Critiques
the lighting seems perfect, well placed shadow behind the clock, and a great shadow of the clock itself. Not to mention the focus is perfect also.
There is not a lot i could find wrong with this picture, if i was being picky i would suggest that the clock and shadow could be slightly further apart, but i dont think minimal re-positioning really matter. The shot is very impacting.
i particularly like the chosen time, for me, the time shown symbolizes transition, boredom, mediocracy. It is a time between the afternoon and the evening which is relatively meaningless, which again fulfils the intended message. If thought weren't put into the time (although i assume it was) then i suggest that it should be.
very good photo
The first thing that struck me about this picture was the harsh, spotlight clarity of the photo. I think this was especially good, because it reflects the somewhat harsh theme you are trying to portray. The clock catches your eye right away, and it's the first thing you start to think about. You did an excellent job of making your subject the clear and main part of this photo.
After glancing at the clock, your eyes travel down to the shadow. The shadow adds a nice effect, almost reiterating the original idea, but somehow it doesn't seem to fit. I covered up half of the photo with my hand and left only the clock, and that seemed like a much better crop to me. The shadow almost detracts from the focus and attention on your main subject. Covering just the clock makes for an interesting shot as well. Perhaps you might consider separating this into two pieces, or cropping it and uploading a new one to see the effects of a different perspective. A re-doing of this photo focusing only on the shadow might make an interesting change of perspective on the idea and the originality.
Overall, I would say this deviation is a success. You did an excellent job getting your intended message across of "killing time" and that is, ultimately, the idea of conceptual photography.
